Romney really hits the nail on the head on this one. You really could put just about any candidate’s name on the end of this.
Romney better be pretty fu(I<ing careful to be ready when Gingrich answers this and relates it to his popular theme against big money advertising and unscrupulous spin that misleads people.
I have previously heard Gingrich say at least a few things about the nature of the advice he gave. He’s ready to tell a story where he was the sole voice of sanity in a sea of madness, the unheeded white hat overwhelmed by an unscrupulous powerful elite.
This commercial assidiously avoids letting viewers hear what he said to Fannie and Freddie. If that content tells a markedly different story that the commercial portrays, Romney is going to be in trouble about it. The show that is playing right now displays Gingich as a poised, common sense voice unfraid to speak simple truths, in comparison to Romney as an unscrupulous stammering empty suit using his powerful backing to mislead people about Newt.
What this commerical does is allow Gingrich to tell a very compelling story that shows how he understands the economic collapse from the RE bubble and what he would have done different to protect regular folks from the calamity in the context of conservative homilies. While invoking Reagan in a much more personal and compelling way than Romney has been able to . .. .
